BREAKING: EKSU Shuts Down Oyo Campus Indefinitely Over Disruption Of Exams By Students



The Management of Ekiti State University, Ado-ekiti has reportedly shuts down it’s campus in Oyo following the disruption of examination by the students of the institution until further notice.

OAU VOICES gathered that some students of the institution who were not allowed to write exams due to their failure to pay tuition fees were alleged to be the cause of the disruption.

According to the EKSU management, The disruption lead to the destruction of some school properties and some staff members of the institution were reportedly assaulted

In a video obtained by our correspondent, teared exam sheets and question papers were seen flowing on the ground and students in their large number were seen coming out of examination hall after the disruption.

However, the management in a statement made available to meet OAU VOICES ordered immediate vacation of students from campus. Consequently, the institution also suspends the ongoing second semester examination.

The statement reads; “This to inform all full time degree students that the 2019/2020 second semester full time degrees examinations have been suspended immediately with immediate effect.”

”While the examination written today have been cancelled sequel to the disruption of the examinations by some unruly full time degree students today, 20 January 2021. The disruption also lead to the vandilization of college properties  and assault on some staff members.”

“Following from above, all full time degree students are required to vacate college premises with immediate effect. The dateeif resumption of examination would be communicated to you in due course.”The statement ended.

It would be recalled that this is the third time in less than a year that the management will suspend academic activities inside the campus. The institution had shut down campus in March, 2020 following federal government directive to close all schools in the country over the outbreak of COVID-19.

OAU VOICES gathered that in October, 2020, the management also ordered the students to vacate school premises for the training and recruitment of Amotekun security corps in oyo.
