COVID-19: FG Orders Civil Servants To Work From Home

The federal government on Wednesday has directed some civil servants to work from thier home in a bid to flatten the curve and curb the spread of COVID-19.

The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, clerk of the National Assembly and Permanent Secretaries, the Head of Civil Service Folasade Yemi-Esan made this known to public in a statement released on Wednesday.

According to her, She said the president has directed Federal civil servants on grade level 12 to work from home.

She noted the decision was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari amidst rising cases of COVID-19 in the country.

According to the statement released, She said; Further to the Circular, No. HCSF/3065/Vol.1/47 dated 22nd December 2020, on the above subject; and following the advice of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, all officers on GL 12 and below are to continue working from home till end of February, 2021.

“It is important to emphasise the need to ensure strict compliance with the existing guidelines on the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.

“Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers are enjoined to bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all concerned and ensure compliance,”She added.

Recall that the federal government had imposed some restrictions in the middle of December, 2020 amidst anxiety over second wave of coronavirus.

The Presidential task force(PTF) re-imposed the ban on large gatherings of more than 50 in religious centers(Mosques and Churches), Social clubs, Night parties, among others to curb the spread of the virus.
