JUST IN: Airtel Commences NIN Registrations Across Nigeria

Nigeria’s telecommunications service provider, Airtel Nigeria has annouced the commencement of National Identity Number(NIN) registration across it’s various retail outlets in the country.

Airtel who disclosed this in a statement made available to Journalists in Lagos noted that the commencement of the NIN enrollment was following an approval from the federal government which granted them a verification and enrolment license.

The federal government had ordered Nigerian telecoms(MTN,GLO,Airtel,Etisalat etc.) to begin the registration of NIN for subscribers who haven’t enrolled yet at the NIMC offices in a bid to make the data collection easier and faster amidst difficulties applicants are facing at various NIN registration centres in the country.

Speaking on the new development, Segun Ogunsanya, the Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria noted that the only available retail outlets so far for the NIN registration exercise is located in Lagos and Abuja, adding that efforts to expand the enrolment to more states is ongoing.

Applicants from Abuja can now visit Transcorp Hilton situated in Mataima or Airtel showrooms at Carpet Plaza and Aminu Kano Crescent in Wuse 2.

According to the statement, those in Lagos should visit Airtel Express Point, Oyin Jolayemi, Victoria Island or Airtel showroom in Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere, Lagos.

He said that Lagos residents could also visit the Airtel showroom in Tejuosho, Yaba, Isheri Road, Ogba and the Airtel showroom in Oba Akran, Ikeja to enroll for the NIN

In his statement, he said; ”Airtel is always seeking opportunities to cooperate and partner with the Nigerian government on initiatives that will make life easier and better for Nigerians.

“As a law abiding and responsible corporate citizen, we are always ready to go extra mile for our esteemed stakeholders and that is why we are pleased to partner with the Federal Government and the National Identity Management Commission on citizens’ registration exercise.

“Customers who already have NINs have the option to send their NINs to Airtel via USSD, SMS or through the Airtel Self Care app or website to update their SIM registration details,” Ogunsanya added.
